I love my Mac. Unlike a PC, it still works the same as the day I bought it! Same speed and can work with it for months without a re-boot other than having to reboot for an update. (Happy to get Windows 7 people responses…..does Windows 7?). Apple formula: you never go back.

iPod, iPhone; so locked in with music and apps – you never go back to anything else.

Fillers like Macbook Air and iPad are just that, “fillers” – perception of innovation to keep the “standards” like Mac Notebooks and iPods going. They all know that.

I was cool with that until I realiased it did not do phone. So now I have an iPod, iPhone which I cannot download all my shit due to DRM and an iPad which I cannot call from. Newton value. This will be as big as that Air.

    And the iPad… ? :)

  3. So my Air is a filler? I thought it was my primary computer! :-)

My experience with Win 7 on cheap hardware vs OS X on expensive hardware is that for usability, performance & stability there isn’t much difference. My $499 Win 7 laptops are as fast, stable and usable as my $2000 Air. They are better at some things (Wireless) and worse at other things (desktop search, Spaces-like desktop management).

The Apple size, weight and ergonomics are what differentiate the Air from the rest. It simply is a vastly better tool to drag around to meetings, take notes & give presentations than my other laptops, and hence it’s almost always nearby. It’s portable enough that I don’t use a laptop bag – I do the Jobs thing and slide it into a manila folder along with the rest of my paperwork.

The iPad? Not sure. If it can’t replace my phone, it needs to be able to take notes in meetings and fling power points up on an overhead, otherwise I’m not going to carry it around all day at work.

It might be better positioned as a keyboard-less netbook replacement, used off hours when you’d normally not have your ‘real’ computer hanging off your shoulder.

I was searching around on the world wide web for information about Apple computers and I saw “Apple” and “security” come up for this site here, although the name “Beast or Buddha” sounds like some kind of animal worshipping gaylord site. But, benefit of the doubt. So I’m thinking that you bunch of poofy nerds must also be tough blokes, right ? You’re half way to being my kind of people.

Anyhow, I’ve still got my Apple II that channel seven gave me as a retirement present in 1982.

Can someone tell me in plain f’n English – where the HELL is the ON button ?

And don’t respond in poofy metro techo lingo, or I’ll punch you in the nose, right ?

  5. Time will tell I suppose but even if they have a couple of “flops”, the dominance of iPod, iPhone, iTunes and sales of the Macs won’t be impacted and eventually they’ll come up with another jackpot winner. I could be wrong about the iPad.

  6. Rex, it’s an honour to have you here and posting. We endeavour to have only “real” blokes and “ladies” posting here but I can’t guarantee that some metro of questionable non-christian and non-1940s values won’t slip through the cracks.

Re: Apple II. Leave it in the box and I’ll take it off your hands….swap it for a whiz bang 2008 Isus.

  7. Jonny Rapper says:

Metro homo shite, even Rex can open his apple II, secret gayboy that he is..
Now Draz you asked if there is to be an arm-band for the ipad, I here its going to be a back-band, that way you homos can play with your iPad (as well as other things you play with) while your pushing your floppy into your mates…. you guys are F*** sick.
