“It is likely to be re-activated in the future, however no decision has been made on timing” I have been told.
While the intentions were good as documented here, it never really picked up a critical mass of support by non-government critical infrastructure sectors. According my sources, attention is now focused on the “CERT within Government” program. Any potentianl impact to AusCERT with this current “focus” you have to ask? For most, as long as the annual Gold Coast conference remains, all is good.

Not surprised to hear about cnva demise.
In regards to the Certs, been the case for a while.
AusCERT okay for their small audience should not be impacted and don’t seem to have been.
Why would the government do that? It was so successful. – Not.
Does AusCERT do anything except for their shitty conference? Or hire anyone of substance? Only people i’ve seen work for them are old pricks i’ve seen at auscert and some uni students (I think).
Oh they manage CERT warnings which they would get from US cert (other than some local .au news like ’someone did a scada talk, sev 5′).
There are companies that do use the service and think it is okay but they are such a small percentage. Most people that I know have little idea what auscert does. If they are committed to helping then it cannot be too bad as long as they fund themselves.
