While I’m not there myself, I was told it would be remiss of me to not somehow provide coverage of the events at Australia’s largest Information Security conference. Which blog would organisers be stressing about if we didn’t talk about the event?

Pete’s Daily Rant – Day Zero
Unfortunately BorB cannot bring you your usual AusCERT programming. I guess Drazen could not make it this year because of:
a) the financial crisis
b) he actually has work to do
c) after last years effort he wasn’t keen to return
When I agreed to post some commentary on this year’s AusCERT, I went back and had a look at last year’s posts for inspiration and that sure is some ranting to live up to.
Now that I have arrived I am looking forward to AusCERT…..but with some trepidation. I don’t know where I fit into Drazen’s hierarchy of conference goers. A quick reminder:
“50% Product vendors, 30% on holiday and party, 10% new and/or keen to learn, and 10% passionate industry professionals.”
However, I am certain that I will be very disillusioned if the presenters and especially the keynotes, do not come up to scratch. We get little opportunity to share ideas and be inspired in a market as small as Australia and I strongly believe AusCERT has a commercial (if not social) responsibility to provide that.
