Trend Micro announced today that they are now protecting the consumer by going after the bad guys directly. While specific details were not released, I ascertain from the advertisement in the Sunday paper today that they have developed some technology to fight the bad guys on their own turf and are able to neutralize threats from them before they can affect you and I.
“Only Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security Pro gives you bulletproof protection from every trick invented to steal your identity. Its unique Web Threat protection blocks bad stuff at the source, before it gets near you and your PC. And its keystroke encryption makes it impossible for someone to get your password”
We await more information on this. Amazed this has not made headline news in the IT media!

Like everyone else, they’re moving into the cloud;

Has there been a press release lately that hasn’t had every so called security company moving into the cloud? Once in there, do they ever come out?
I wander what smoke that cloud is made of…
And what are all those vendors are going to do together in that cloud…
I would really want to know what are they doing.
Because I am paranoid about vendors pushing _my_ (or my client) data back to _their_ cloud for analysis.
@Stas, what’s their reasoning? To take complexity away from us? I get that impression that that is what they are trying to say – “hey have confidence in us…you don’t need to know how we’re protecting you!” Scary thing is that I don’t have any confidence that most of them do know what they are doing. An interesting way to cover up the fact that most are lost as to how to attack the issues.
